“The 2011 DUG Conference in Fort Worth, Texas was a very informative show for the Zephyr Sales Team. We had the opportunity to network with many people in our industry as well hear from several of our industry’s top executives. Some of the speakers included Dick Stoneburner, President and COO of Petrohawk Energy Corp and Lee Boothby, President and CEO of Newfield Exploration Co. These gentlemen, along with several other top industry executives helped provide a more holistic viewpoint on just how bright the future is for the Natural Gas and Oil Industry in the United States as well as offshore. With oil and natural gas reserves increasing at a rapid pace compared to years past, there was a very positive tone from all speakers as to the potential for our industry to continue to flourish in the years and even decades to come!
The most exciting and impressive presentation came from the 43rd president of the United States of America, George W. Bush. Giving the after lunch keynote address, President Bush enthralled the crowd of all ages, genders, ranks, industry sects, and even political affiliation. The theme of his speech related back to some of his most memorable times of his presidency and he reflected on the decisions he had to make when times were very tough. What I respect most about the president is one of the statements he made saying that he is glad he’s out of office, but he cherished all 8 years of his presidency and is confident that he made the best decisions he could with the information that he had. He has no regrets and I think that is very admirable. The President was very entertaining and gave everyone a sense of wanting to do a better job at whatever it is that they do…at least that’s the way he made me feel! I considered it an honor and a privilege to have had the opportunity to see him speak and it is something that I will never forget as long as I live.”
